MEET OUR HONEY BEE & TEAM

MELISSA (μέλισσα)

THE GREEK WORD FOR HONEY BEE

Melissa (she/her) is a music therapist currently working in the Edmonton, Alberta area. From a young age, Melissa found comfort in expressing herself through music. This led her on the path to broaden her skills through extensive vocal, guitar, and piano training. Along this path, she discovered a desire to support others by building a strong connection between the power of music and the mind.

She has a Bachelor of Music Therapy Degree from Capilano University and is a member of the Canadian Association of Music Therapists and the Music Therapy Association for Alberta. Melissa founded Honey Bee Music Therapy in 2020 in order to expand opportunities for populations seeking music therapy services.

Melissa believes in a client-centred approach to therapy. She meets clients where they are at and includes them and their caregivers in their therapeutic process. She has provided music therapy to a wide variety of clients in seniors care homes, schools, rehabilitation facilities, private client homes, music studios and through virtual sessions.
