Testimonials
Our son has had a love for music from a very young age and has been a form of communication for him. Music therapy, the special adaptive kind that Melissa does with him, has increased his use of his communication device to participate more fully in the class. Melissa does a wonderful job at meeting our son where he is at in any given moment, as well as taking favourite songs of his and incorporating them in a fun and engaging way. Being a music therapist involves more than just training; it requires a giving heart and a patient mind. And Melissa has plenty of both. During these very challenging times, music therapy has been a consistent bright light in our lives and we are very grateful that our son has this form of expression!

We have been doing music therapy with Melissa for about 5 months now and my children are obsessed!!! This interactive music session is full of fun personalized songs, musical instruments (made out of whatever you have available) and movement!! Melissa is an extremely talented musician/singer/song writer with extremely positive energy and a gentle soul. Music is a universal language that can connect us all on so many levels...it’s evident watching her sessions. I would highly recommend getting your children to participate in music therapy sessions with Melissa- it’s definitely the highlight of our week!!

Melissa's music therapy sessions have been amazing for our daughter. There have been very few other activities where we've seen her come alive and excitedly engage in every aspect. Through the classes, she gets exposed to different types of music, different instruments and different movements, all of which have helped her progress over the course of the sessions she's attended. We even feel there's been a tangible improvement in her social skills from this class, despite the restrictions imposed by COVID-19. I would wholeheartedly recommend Melissa's classes to any child who would be felt to benefit from them. Keep up the amazing work, Melissa!

Melissa has been a wonderful addition to our therapist team. She has connected quickly and very well with my child, even with the complication of online sessions, and has brought joy and unabashed singing to our lives. My daughter has learned math facts and is enjoying them for the first time. After a decade of struggles, it is a huge accomplishment! Melissa has met her where she is, made sure she is using songs that are familiar and fun, and navigated attention issues with gentleness.

Our 5 year old daughter has been part of music therapy with Melissa for over a year now. Our daughter is low vision and we thought that music therapy would be a way for her to blossom while having fun. Through the time spent with Melissa we have noticed many positive behaviours develop. She is more comfortable approaching other children and adults, speaking with more confidence. She also exhibits leadership qualities in our home. She loves going to music, she is full of pride when she comes home and talks about what they did and the things she is learning.
Melissa is a kind and welcoming soul (she also has the voice of an angel!). I highly recommend Melissa as a music therapist. She cares, and it shows.
